Credit rating affected with BT Broadband

Hi,
I recently went through the process to obtain BT Broadband but didn't go ahead with it as I was lied to.
Now my credit rating has been affected.
Can I get my rating back because I didn't end up getting Broadband?

The credit rating you see is a made up one - you don't need to get it back as you never had it.
Assuming BT did a search, that - or the ownership of broadband or not - will have no impact of any significance on your files.1 -
I've been with BT for years and they've never been anywhere near my credit report. Nor have they advised me that they would be checking my credit report as a matter of course.
Just curious as to how you were lied to by BT? If you phone and speak to someone you can usually hash out any problem. I've done so a few times in the past.
Something else must be affecting your report but as zx81 says above, the number you see is only ever seen by you. And it can vary at any time. Have you checked all your credit reports? Experian, Equifax, Transunion? They can all be different. I've got two 'excellent' reports and one 'fair'. No idea why.

I wasn't lied to by BT it was a sales chap who failed to mention certain costs involved with the contract0

All I know is that my credit rating has gone from 1000 to 978 and it shows hard from BT.0

The pretend credit scores drop with any change, good or bad.
But no one will ever know or care about the missing 22 points.0 -
Well how peculiar. Why are so many places talking about credit rating if it, according to whomever is saying so, not even real or looked at?
That's the understanding I'm believing to be told here. Am I understanding it correctly?0 -
Correct.
CRAs scores are like horoscopes - purely for entertainment, but not to be taken seriously. Lenders are only interested in the history of how you manage your accounts and will score you themselves on that basis.

In that case, I thank you for all your responses and educating me.

Even if your fake credit score was seen by lenders, which it isn't, do you really think that a score of 978 would adversely affect your available credit, as opposed to 1,000?No free lunch, and no free laptop0
