    1000mm?! That's 1m!
    I guess it's 1m or the soffit depth, whichever is smaller.

    Yes of course, definitely time to upgrade... but there are reasons we're not at the moment.

    A – We're having the roof done as we speak, so funds are low.
    B – When we renovate the kitchen, we'd planned to replace the boiler with it – as it may very well be relocated (other side of the room, shifted slightly, maybe in the loft, who knows).
    C – Yes, it isn't as efficient as newer boilers... but it works. I don't think the costs saved through better efficiency in comparison to the costs of installing a new one would be more cost-efficient.

    I agree and have no plans to upgrade my almost 30 y.o. boiler. However, this may have changed after the recent rise in energy prices.
