Boiler Flue below Soffit – Heat Shield?

Hi all,
In the process of having new fascia, soffit and guttering.
But, we've an old boiler, with an old flue. Previously, we had an old piece of sheet metal (tin, I think?) simply screwed into the soffit board.
Don't really want to burn my brand new fascia and soffit.
Don't really fancy using this old, rusty sheet metal either.
What's the best solution?
Can't seem to find an actual product for this! Maybe I'm not looking in the right places?
Thanks.

If it's a condensing boiler, the air temperature has to be reasonably low - try feeling or measuring it or just by putting a piece of fascia into the flow. Some parts of a flue are often made from plastic. If you still think that it's high enough to damage your facsia (soffit?), then extending the flue a little can possibly be an easier and nicer option.0

Looks like a fan flued boiler to me, quite a bit of heat will be expelled from that flue. Certainly old.
I would find someone who could make proper weather shield stainless if poss, plus then fix a insulated panel on top.
Maybe ask the plumber who’s coming to sort your loft pipes out.1 -

Thanks guys.
But plumb1_2, have someone “make” one?
I can’t believe that nobody in the entirety of the UK has this issue? Surely there is a product for this sort of thing?0 -
There are products called 'flue deflector/divertor'. Not sure if they are compatible with your flue.

Is it a condensing boiler, LwM? If it is, then the flue gas temp will almost certainly be too low to affect your soffit. If it ain't, then you run a risk of some warping being possible. That boiler ain't going to last forever, so until it's replaced by a condie type, I'd fold that sheet crisply along the line that's on it, and secure the short part under a gutter bracket, so the main part sits snugly against the soffit. And paint it white. It'll do the job until you replace the boiler...0

You could always use a old quality st tin.
make/model of boiler
why is the homemade heat shied there? I suspect that the heat of the flue had been scorching the old wooden soffit/facia . So it’s gonna melt that twin wall soffit imo.
A couple of L brackets and cement based board on top should help0 -
Plus if I remember correctly that flue should have been fitted 300mm away from the soffit originally.
So boiler install was incorrect? Post make/model.0 -
It’s an old (think it’s about 27 years old) Potterton Profile 40e.0

Its 1000mm in the manual, 500mm it need a shield 1000mm long
Its only 72%, SAP seasonal efficiency, Its time to upgrade!0
