United Utilities issues and debt chasers

in Water bills
I temporarily moved into my partners flat and setup a DD for the water as there previously wasnt one.
Moved into our own house 8 weeks later. Rang up to have it transferred over instead it seems like they created a new account and removed my access to the online portal.
A year later I get 2 texts saying I have outstanding bills which I message them about (thinking it was a scam).
Turns out they had just sent it on to a court. Sent them all the information on our move, notifications, and the bills we paid.
I was told by UU that they would cancel the court order and refund any credit on the 2 bills paid after we had moved out.
Today I received a debt collection from CCS Collect for £200 claiming to be from UU with no information about why or what this amount is for?
I assume it is part of the old address or court issue that's been bumped on to us despite it being an issue there end.
just dont get their operating process as they have all our contact information from the DD setup the only change was the address, which is evident by the fact they texted me about it.
The lack of communication or effort by UU to their customers is absurd.
Anyone else here been in the same boat or can offer any advice?

Update to OP.
I persevered with more emailing UU about this and they did actually look into this scenario and resolve.
Its all sorted now, it was a classic case of one systems not updating another external system.
My advice to anyone being pestered by Debt collection companies is to ignore and continue speaking to (or chasing for updates) the original supplier.
