A Shade Greener
Options
Hi. Has anyone used this company. Unfortunately my inlaws agreed to have Solar Panels from them two years after moving into their new home. 7 years later, beginning of 2021, when we had the most horrendous wet weather, they had a leak in their living room. Due to the way they were treated, pensioners now in their 80's, they had to have the panels removed (not by them) so that they could attend to the leak. This is still an ongoing battle with them, however my inlaws have found out that A Shade Greener, has put a charge against the property under the name of US Bank Trustees Ltd as well as themselves. The panels have been removed and I very much doubt they will go back on, however we are looking to get the two charges removed of the property at the land registry. Has anyone else had this experience with the company and how can we remove the charges ? TIA Maria

Welcome to the forum. Was this a rent-a-roof panel leasing scheme? If it was, your parents will have entered into a contract with A Shade Greener under which your parents get free electricity but ASG benefit from the government FIT payments. The contract will have stated the conditions under which the panerls could be removed and a charge that would become due if they were removed under other circumstances.Your parents need to refer to their rent-a-roof agreement to see what exactly they signed up to in 2014. I suspect they will have to pay the fee in order to get the charge removed. Here's a relevant thread that explains the scheme, going back several years:
