Wizzair confirmation without flights

Has anyone had an experience with Wizzair where they sent you an itinerary email with booking reference, seats, fare, etc, but in small letters it says they payment has been declined? The email even states "This itinerary is a confirmation of your reservation and part of your electronic ticket. Your booking is now confirmed". It looks and feels like the real thing, but when I went to check in I realised that I didn't have tickets. I called them and they informed me that I never actually booked because payment didn't arrive. As a result of this I had to book new flights, two days ahead - in holiday season - paying more than £400 on top of the original flight.
Can the email I received be considered a contract and have they breached it? Besides never ever travelling with Wizzair again, does anyone have any recommendations as to what to do in this case?

Not heard that one before.
What action did you take when you realised no payment had been taken from your card/bank for the flights?0 -
It is a bit strange. Similar can happen with legacy airlines who use far more complex ticketing GDS systems, but I wouldn't have expected it on a modern low cost airline. They tend to use far more simple reservations systems, I'd have expected a reservation to fail if payment failed.
One thing I always do is as soon as I have received a confirmation email from an airline I go back to their website and log into my booking to cross check everything is ok. Also a couple of times between booking and flying to make sure.0
