Extra flight compensation?

Hi, our flight with eurowings got cancelled as we go to border patrol coming back from stockholm. No explanation or alternative flight was offered. We had to pay for a BA flight to Heathrow, train back to Bristol and then train to Birmingham airport to collect my car. I can see we can claim for the cancelled eurowings flight. Can we also claim for the BA flight and train tickets? Is this with eurowings or the package operator TUI? Many thanks

Did you contact the package provider at the time?  They should have advised what to do, as they were responsible for getting you home, but yes, they should reimburse reasonable additional costs incurred.

You can potentially claim flight cancellation compensation from the airline too, but obviously can't have reimbursement of the cost of both the original and replacement flights, it's one or the other.

Agree with the above, under the Package Travel Regulations, if TUI were your package provider then they would have been responsible for arranging alternative flights.

Leaving that aside though, you should however be able to claim from Eurowings:

- Cost of alternative travel arrangements which will be the BA flights, and normally transport back to your original point of departure. The BA flights should be a no brainer, the rail costs maybe more complicated  because you went back to Bristol first (where I guess you live) and then BHX.

- Cancellation compensation fixed at €250pp.  Note they may not have to pay this if the cancellation was due to extraordinary circumstances outside of their control.

I would put in for everything from Eurowings and see what happens.
