Hi all
I recently got stopped by the police and they checked my car and it turned out my
insurance had run out the day before my fault , i renewed on the spot over phone but
police are pushing for conviction, ive already 6points so this is
going to court automatically and paper work says its will be Derry/Londonderry so im
trying to sort a good solicitor that will hopefully get me the min points/fine.
Can anyone recommend a good solicitor in that area
Thanks

I can’t see you avoiding a ban, no matter who your solicitor is.“What means that trump?” Timon of Athens by William Shakespeare2

yeah its not looking too good
pretty much going to mess up my life
for sake of messing up my renewal date by 24hrs

I got six points for a roughly similar offence, doing someone a good turn. The judge accepted it was an honest mistake, still nailed me. I didn’t think it was worth paying for a solicitor since I was otherwise clean and pleading guilty.“What means that trump?” Timon of Athens by William Shakespeare0

so u didnt get a solicitor?
yeah i think 6points is a given im hoping to get a 2week ban rather than 6months0 -
What is the point of getting a solicitor in these circumstances? You're presumably pleading guilty, as there is no defence to this charge, so all they are going to be able do is offer a short speech in mitigation.
You are more likely to elicit sympathy from the bench if you do that yourself. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Assuming the process in NI is the same as E&W (not always the case)....the offence of driving with no insurance will get you 6pts, which assuming the other 6pts were still current on the date of the insurance offence, will see you disqualified for 6 months under the totting procedure.
You can seek to reduce, or avoid, such a ban by making a submission of exceptional hardship ....you should be considering what would make your case "exceptional". Generally, the effect a ban would have on others carries more weight than the effect on yourself.0 -

You’ll be lucky to get as short a ban as that.“What means that trump?” Timon of Athens by William Shakespeare0
