Stop worryinjg about the end of your fix.  It is years away still.  In 4 years anyone with only that problem will be laughing.  So enjoy it whilst you can.
  • This true. Currently regarding the mortgage we are in a very fortunate situation.

Everything is going up. We just need to make the best of it.

I think if you look at some of the graphics on where this inflation is coming from - then mortgage is a huge chunk of it. If your mortgage is fixed until 2026 that doesn't apply to you - therefore your personal inflation rate is much lower. It is also based on how much you travel i.e. fuel cost - so that can vary a lot by household too. It also depends whether you were planning any big purchases in the near future - if not hopefully you will be okay.

You also need to bear in mind the 'help' we're getting on energy from the govt which will help to a degree at least.

  • Hello my beautiful diary friends sorry I haven't posted much.

    Life's just got hectic.

Kids are going to my grandmas this weekend. I have 2 main goals.

    Finish diploma work and submit
Sort the house out / organise / declutter

Today I need to pack their bags.
    Tidy up
    Take the kids
Do my diploma work tonight and tomorrow
Sunday I'll either finish up my diploma work or do the house  if I've finished my diploma work.

Pretty basic weekend. Won't be spending any money apart from stuff for lunch boxes for the beginning of next week and if we need milk, bread etc

So I really need to crack on.

    Have a lovely weekend everyone

  • Hello my beautiful diary friends
Happy New year to you all i hope it is everything you want and more ❤️
I hope you are all well..

I have 6 main goals for next year

    Complete my diploma
    No spend /low spend
Fully fund my 3 month emergency fund
    Overpay my mortgage by £10k
    Declutter and organise my home
    Make £3650 extra

Im hoping by the end of January to be back on track with my diploma

Im hoping doing a no / low spend will help me to achieve the other 3 goals of minmaising what comes in the house and will mean we can overpay the mortgage by £10k and fully fund my 3 month emergency fund.

I need to do my final budget for this year.
There isnt much money spare after bills and basic expenses. Looking at the current budget we will have around £200 left and that doesnt include Christmas for next year. Its going to be extremely tight and to achieve my 3 month emergency fund and 10k paid off the mortgage well ill have to pluck that money out of thin air. 🙈

    January spends so far.

    1st
£22 macdonalds (always go after the pantomine)
    £3 parking

    2nd
    £3.60 milk
    £1.40 bread

    3rd
    No spend day

Im going to post here at leaat weekly again to keep myself accountable

Love hugs positivity and prayers to you all

  • Hi everyone i hope you are all well.

We are doing well on the money front. We have stayed under budget for the first 2 weeks of January and ive added the money to my mortgage overpayment challanges.

Im not tracking how much we have saved. I plan to either leave it till the end of the year and make one big over payment or make an overpayment every quarter. We will see but i hope to have overpayed £10,000 by the 31st of December 2023 and to also have a fully funded 3 month emergency fund. Currently we are on track to achieve our 3 month emergency fund

Thanks for continuing to follow our journey.

Hugs love positivity and prayers to you all

Hi, @mumof3.12kindebt. Lovely to hear from you. £10,000, that's ambitious! But if you don't try you will never make it, if you try you may well succeed. Good luck. I've been following you on Youtube.
