Plusnet service should have gone live June 7th. Still no service today almost 50 days later

Options
Basically I joined plusnet in the middle of May after having a horrendous experience trying to leave Virgin Media.  Plusnet told me BT Openreach would be coming on 5th June to activate my line then my service would go live 48 hours later on June7th.

BT Openreach arrived as promised 5th June but told me they couldn't go up the telephone pole due to overgrown trees and it was a council tree cutting job before they could continue.  the council came around 18th June to do some trimming and I immediately contacted Plusnet to ask them to get BT Openreach back round to do activate my line.  So another 2 weeks went by before I got a message from Plusnet saying BT Openreach were coming back on 5th July and my service would be going live on 7th July.

BT openreach came back and, after some analysis they said they couldn't see a valid safety record stamped on the base of the pole.  They called a supervisor to come and give a second opinion (which I had to wait in three hours for).  Sure enough they said the safety record was not up to date so a "Cherry picker vehicle" would be required to lift a BT Openreach engineer up to the pole in order to complete the work.

Unfortunately the trees are blocking any access from the road via "Cherry picker" platform so they have put in yet another job request to the council to come and trim the trees some more.  That was two weeks ago and the council still havent been to trim the trees.

Worse still,  Plusnet have informed me that if I continue with my contract with them and this goes on past August 6th and I try to cancel after that I will be charged a full cancellation fee.

I would like to get activated with Plusnet

We've been tethering phones to devices to try to get data but our phones are only 4G and not a big "Brand Name" so we are getting tons of disconnections

I've checked if I may qualify for compensation.  BT Openreach says £8.50 a day and plusnet says £5.50 a day.  Which organisation should i be asking for compensation or can I ask them both?  I kind of think I deserve it TBH.  It's been a nightmare.

You just imagine doing without broadband for 50 days tethering with "budget smartphones" with hundreds of disconnections
.
What are my compensation rights Please?

Plusnet joined the Ofcom voluntary compensation scheme in May, you should automatically get £5.25 per day from them. You wont get anything from Openreach, you have no contract with them.

Also, you might want to consider buying a mobile broadband device. The cost of an unlimited SIM is less than a week's compensation payments, and it will help you avoid all those tethering problems.

But Openreach are the ones causing all the problems. Their incompetence with the telephone pole is what is stopping anything from happening.  Their compensation daily rate is £8.50.  Wouldn't be surprised if Plusnet claims the compensation from BT - then gives me £5 a day and literally profits from my hassle.  SMH

I'm not sure when you are getting the £8.50 from, but it's irrelevant anyway, you only have a relationship with Plusnet, not their suppliers.
