Easyjet travel insurance
On reading my easyjet policy it seems they will not cover strike by easyjet staff, We will not pay for ...
"9. Any claim caused by or resulting from:
G. industrial action or strike by the directors, employees, contractors or subcontractors of easyJet Airline Company Ltd or any subsidiary or affiliated company"
So question is as it's after the 14 day cooling off period but before the cover beginning can I still cancel and get a refund in order to take out a different insurance that does cover this?
Their wording on cancellation is a bit confusing - From T&C: "If you decide that you no longer require the policy please tell us of your decision, in writing or by phone within 14 days of receiving the policy or cover beginning, whichever is later. If you have not made and do not intend to make a claim, and your trip has not started, we will refund to you 100% of the premium. No refund will be payable after 14 days or if you have made or intend to make a claim or if your trip has already started."
Or can I take out another policy from someone else that will cover any strikes by easyjet or any other company's staff and have this and the Easyjet one but only claim from one if needed.
Thanks very much.

Assuming its a single trip policy the cover starts the second you buy the policy as if you were knocked over by a bus 10 minutes after buying the policy it'd reimburse the cost of your trip.Rose234 said:Sorry, bit of a long first post

If its an annual policy then you declare a start date but a quick glance at easyJet's website there is no sign of them offering annual policies.
You can have as many policies as you want however be aware that claims can get more complicated. In general you wouldn't actually claim from one but claim 50% from each unless one policy covered something and the other didn't or your loss is within the limit of one but over the limit of the other... this is the point when things get slow as the insurers debate how the claim should be split between them.1 -
It seems pretty clear. You could have cancelled with full refund in the first 14 days. After 14 days there is no refund. You can take out another policy, but obviously need to check that you are covered in the event of strikes etc.

The OP is presumably under the mistaken view that single trip insurance starts when your holiday starts... a fairly common mistake people make. As such they are questioning the 14 days from commencement of the policy aspect given the misconception of when that is.TELLIT01 said:It seems pretty clear.1 -
Thanks for the responses. Yes, I understand now re policy start date. It does seem a bit sneeky that strikes are covered for airlines, except, it would appear, for easyjet. For peace of mind I'll probably cancel it, take the hit on the premium and take out a new one covering strikes by all airlines.0

Possibly not a bad idea to cancel. If you have 2 policies running you would have to declare that in the event of a claim. Both insureres would then only pay half the amount, but probably both apply full excess.

Hi All, Newbie here.
My family were due to fly from Luton on the 23rd July to Malaga. Got to boarding gate and along with 30 other passengers were denied boarding! Reason being, the plane has been downsized!!
We were told to go back to Check in and find an alternate flight. Which we did and was allocated a flight the next day from Gatwick!
Contacted Easyjet insurance after much fobbing off and being passed from pillar to post. Was told to fill out claim form online. Which we did, and claim kept being rejected stating insufficient evidence on receipts. (We copied and posted the originals) The email was a 'No reply'. So could not contest decision!
Back to the 30min wait time on phone. Finally got through to 'Insurance' dept. And they stated because the flight was only delayed 1 hr I was not entitled to anything? I stated that the plane was delayed because they were getting the refused passengers luggage off the plane!
I stated I am not claiming for delayed departure but for denied boarding. And for losing 1 days accommodation/car rental/taxi paid to get to airport and meals bought at airport waiting for alternate flight to be found.
I have checked the policy and flights over 1500km which Luton to Malga is. I am entitled to £350 per person. This they are strongly contesting as they are claiming an alternate flight was found within 24hrs?

Firstly, you would get better responses if you started your own thread rather then hijacking someone else's issue.
Secondly, this has nothing to do with insurance (Easyjet or otherwise). The airline itself is responsible for rerouting you; for providing 'care' during your delay and probably for paying compensation for the time you have lost. You should not be reading your insurance policy but the rules about flight delays.
