After watching Martin encouraging everyone to haggle on TV I decided to phone BT as my monthly payment was £73, result was that because my only income is Universal Credit I was eligible for BT Home Essentials which dropped my monthly payment to £41 for Broadband, phone  mobile SIM and BT sport saving me £32 a month/ £384 a year, it is £20 for Home phone and broadband alone. Winner winner 😃.

  • I am on UC and took the BT offer but, because of frequent electrical blips and medical needs, specifically stated that I did not want to take up the voice calling and wanted to keep my normal landline.
My broadband was transferred yesterday, seemed fine. Today my phone line has been cut off...
I had to log in to work and use my work VOIP phone to ring BT and they have given me 2 options:
1 Wait for them to send me their VOIP phones and put up with digital calling that I do not want.
2 They can cancel my account so that everything is disconnected and I can wait for 14 days with no phone or broadband until they set up a new account.
No offer of sorting anything out more quickly, expectation that I should be 'happy' to have any solution, admit that I requested to keep landline, refusal to transfer my call to a supervisor.
I am terrified in case I need to make an emergency call, as I have no way of doing this.
Don't know what to do.  Don't know how they can leave someone with no way of making emergency calls due to BT error.
    Can anyone help?

Sorry can't help with the latest post but I'll bite to the OP

At what point is BT Sport classed as a 'Home Essential' ?? Surely the point of the service is offering 'Essentials' to those in need allowing them to remain connected to the world.

I'd love the F1 coverage but can't afford it and no-one's going to discount it for me nor offer it as an 'essential'

    Rant over

I have been away. Just seen this omg awful. I hope it has been sorted.

I am with EE they are amazing and use the Open Reach engineers who cannot do enough. I would complain to them first you deserve a good service and a financial payment at the v least. If  you are not satisfied with their reply then go to the ombudsman such as OFCOM. They left you with no service when you are one of the most vulnerable customers. If you can,  leave it to a local MP or councillor to sort it out for you. I am hoping you will get some compensation, do you have anyone that can do this on your behalf?
