VirginmediaO2 in early talks to buy Talk Talk

Good afternoon
I have recently wrenched myself away from VirginmediaO2 (after much effort) and signed up with Talk Talk to be connected on 26 July 2022.
I read an article on the Guardian by Mark Sweney 15 July 2022 (and other sites) that said VirginmediaO2 were in early stages of negotiations to buy Talk Talk.
Which is strange when you ring Talk Talk sales staff in Ireland and they have not heard any news regarding this alleged takeover discussion.
Even left me on hold for 3 minutes to talk to his boss (Who is high up in the company !) eventually said we have not heard this news.
But they did inform me that most of their old and new customers are from Virginmedia02.
Bit sad if we had escaped from Virgin only to be captured again
Who knows prices may stay the same with Talk Talk !!!! after the alleged takeover.
It may not happen - but !

Even if they had read The Guardian article you refer to - Virgin Media O2 explores bid for rival TalkTalk - what would you expect them to tell you? "Yes, we read that too" would probably be about as much as they could comment.
