You've just made the same mistake that the OP almost certainly made when booking a 'direct' flight rather than a 'non-stop' one.

My interpretation of the meaning of  the word "can" is clearly different to yours
Are you telling us that a direct flight must have no stops ?

I have not said that a direct flight must have no stops.

I'm agreeing with TadleyBaggie, Westin, Browntoa, Caz3121 & onashoestring about the difference between a non-stop flight, a direct flight and an indirect flight.

The OP seems not to understand the difference.

It can indeed have zero stops. Or it could have one or more stops, as already indicated. The OP has interpreted it as must have zero stops. Therein lies the difference.

The person you are replying to to knows that.  They were correcting the assertion they replied to that a direct flight always has one or more stops.

The post they replied to suggests non-stop flights and direct flights are non intersecting sets, whereas in fact non-stop flights are a subset of direct flights.

To reply to the OP, surely you saw the flight time? Why does it make a difference to you that part of that time you were on the ground rather than in the air?  Were there any additional delays caused by the stop?
