TUI selling direct flight that is not direct

I booked a package holiday with TUI with selecting direct flights to Dominican Republic. The flights are with BA. 

Then when checking the flight with BA they state there is a stop off in Antigua. Therefore this is not a direct flight. 

The holiday is still being sold as direct when it’s clearly not. 

I’ve tried to contact TUI for months now but no help. I could have saved £300 per person for booking indirect flights knowingly. Feeling really misled and no one wants to help they tell me to call the “3rd party flight dept” which the numbers take me to the wrong place. 

Has anyone had this issue? 

I would just like some clarification and also why they are selling something that is not true.

It's a direct flight if you stay on the same plane. If you have to change planes, it's not.

I think you have a direct flight and have not been mis sold.  You are thinking of a non-stop flight.  

Here is the wiki definition of a direct flight:

A direct flight in the aviation industry is any flight between two points by an airline with no change in flight numbers, which may include one or more stops at an intermediate point(s).A stop may either be to get new passengers (or allow some to disembark) or a technical stop over (i.e., for refuelling). Direct flights are often confused with non-stop flights, which are a special case of direct flights involving no intermediate stops. When there is a change in flight number, the subsequent flight is referred to as a connecting flight.

100% agree with both posters above.
I think it's very likely that you've misunderstood the terminology.

As the other posters have said 

A direct flight=  from one airport to another, but includes  in one or more stops along the way. The flight number remains  the same.

A non-stop flight = no stops .

OP has not understood the difference and made an incorrect assumption that a direct flight is always non-stop.

You may have been able to save £300 per person but you would also have had the inconvenience of having to change planes instead of a short stop to take on new passengers.

You've just made the same mistake that the OP almost certainly made when booking a 'direct' flight rather than a 'non-stop' one.

My interpretation of the meaning of  the word "can" is clearly different to yours
Are you telling us that a direct flight must have no stops ?
