A diamond blade will cut it. Cast is less brittle than natural. At that price it's unlikely to be be carved natural.1

The standard size for most inset gas fires i.e. the part that has the fire bed in it is 410mm x 560mm (16in x 22in). This is also the size of the opening cut into many/most fireplace back panels.
The front of the fire ie the bit around the fire bed opening is essentially just trim and fits to the front of the back panel so assuming the 498mm measurement you've given is the trim size there is a good chance you won't need to cut anything.1 -
