Cancelled flight and delayed alternative flight

My son in laws flight was cancelled on way to Zante airport. He was flying into Cardiff and was given an alternative flight to Manchester which was delayed (not sure exact time of delay) but by the time Tui got him to Cardiff his arrival time was 9 hours late. He has been given £300 compensation surely he should get the max of £520??

The compensation amounts are set amounts and calculated by the distance of the flight -

where are you getting the distance from?
www.greatcirclemapper.net show ZTH-CWL as under 2,500km which falls into the "Between 1,500 km and 3,500 km" band

Each flight would be a separate booking.

A friend of mine had a flight from LA to Europe cancelled, I told her how to put the claim into the airline on this.
Her re-booked (by the original airline) flight was then cancelled and she was put on a third flight. Not sure of the timings, but I have told her to put a second claim in for the first re-booked flight if that was more than 3 hours late too.

It would be 2x £300, not £520 in this case.
