Warranty rights with Amazon third party sellers?

I bought a microwave in March, this stopped working over a week ago. Amazon connected me with the seller who arranged for it to be collected and checked by their engineers.
I no longer had the original packaging, seller said just package it up as best you can.
I'm disabled and over 70 but did my best and it was collected.
Today, seller says it arrived damaged due to inadequate packaging and also shows signs of poor maintenance, (no idea what that means!) so they will not repair or replace.
Amazon say they will refund me, but I have to get the microwave back from the seller and return it to Amazon.
I have requested the seller return it to me, but now they are ignoring me.
Amazon can't refund without the return.
Is there anything I can do?

Personally, would persist with Amazon... had a case with them where 90% of the product was basically unremovable and was working fine but the 10% that wasn't stuck down is what went faulty. They initially said only get a refund if all of it is returned, I pointed out that would cause damage that they'd be liable for and after many turns around the houses they eventually agreed to just refund/order the replacement without me returning anything.
In theory the merchant should return the microwave to you, potentially at your expense, as its your property etc but Amazon are easier to deal with and persistence will be quicker than having to threaten to litigate to get back a damaged microwave to then send it on again to Amazon.0 -
The seller has just emailed me and agreed to send the microwave back to me, Amazon have sent me a label and told me to take the microwave to the Post Office for return to them. Not sure the Post Office will accept such a large item but we will see.
I will buy from a shop in future though, how someone elderly /disabled is supposed to be hauling large heavy items around to the Post Office is beyond me when the item is still under warranty0 -
