out of court settlement for road tax

Hi. SO I am in this situation: I bought a car from an auction withoutnthe v5. As I did not had it I could not tax it so I have applied or v5 in order to tax it. After some time I receive a out of cort settlement to pay a fine as I was keeper of the car but the car was not taxed. So in the dvla system the V5 was issued but they did not sent it or was lost in post. I have asent them a letter explaining that I bought the car at auction without the v5 , and that I did not receive the V5 so I could not tax it. I aslo sent them the receipt from the auction where is written that the car had no V5 at the point of the sale. So any thoughts? Do I have any chances to have this fine dropped?

No chance, shouldn't have driven it till you had the V5 to tax

you can not report it sorn without the v5 or green slip as you need the refference number of the document to do it online

Is their any correlation between V5 and the VIN on the vehicle? i.e. can the VIN be used somehow?

How long did it take for them to issue the fine for not taxing or declaring the car sorn? My new V5 recently took about 5 days to arrive.
If its not on the road the fine should be for not declaring sorn.

If it's not on the road, the fine is for not taxing the vehicle.

If it's on the road, there is a further offence of using an untaxed vehicle.

How long did you have the car before sending in a V62 (assuming that's what you did)?
