Job Centre visit after positive covid test?

Do i need to attend the Jobcentre if i tested positive for covid this week using the nasal swab test?
I feel i should isolate as i am for shopping but if i don't attend a JC appointment i could get in trouble.

Ask the JobCentre. There is no legal requirement to self isolate - it's down to the JobCentre to manage their risk.

  • In my journal regarding appointments with job coach, there is the wording to let them know if I am unable to attend . I would say your best course of action would be to send a message to your job coach in your journal advising them of your situation .
Don't forget to check for a reply .

yea I would let them know in advance that you can’t attend due to having tested positive for covid. If it causes you any difficulties, get some advice and appeal cause that would be absurd.

Aside from whatever the Jobcentre says, thank you for doing (and trying to do) the right thing by isolating :)

I don't know where you are, but my local jobcentre (Bathgate) is done with that crap. Back to normal as far as I can see. Has been for ages.

I would suggest posting a message on your journal explaining the situation. It's up to them to decide if you should attend or not. I've never done it, but they may want some proof or other. I don't know.

With 1 in 20 having Covid already isolating seems pointless - but on the other hand that's partly why the prevalence is so high. And yet the authorities (and leadership hopefuls) keep talking about emerging from Covid.
There is no legal requirement to isolate although you are encouraged to so.

It might appear they are done "with that crap" but you are incorrect.  As a DWP employee we are not allowed to attend work if we test positive for COVID to protect other staff and customers so the same will apply to customers.

That';s good to hear. So many employers are not taking that attitude.

The NHS website says "you're no longer advised to get tested". Do DWP employees PAY to get tested regularly? Do you think DWP customers PAY to get tested regularly? I'm going to say definitely not for the 2nd question, at least. How is that preventing covid spreading? It's not. Like I said, "crap".

I don't know if all parts of the DWP are exercising discretion but the HR/sickness guidance does not back that up.  There is provision for working from home if the job role allows but it doesn't state that those testing positive are barred from attending work.
