Backdated PIP Claim

I have successfully applied for PIP. My claim was done on 31/3/22 and my decision came through on 1/7/22.
From what I had read I thought my claim was backdated till when I first claimed but the decision letter states that I get a part payment of £194 in July then the full standard rate in August. Is this right? Thanks for any help

If it was a brand new claim you should get the backpay, for the time from the date of your claim until the decision, as a lump sum.
Unless you were previously on DLA, in which case PIP takes over from the date DLA stopped, the two can't overlap.1 -
Thanks. It is a new claim. I’ve never applied for DLA. I just expected that the backdated amount would be mentioned in my decision letter. Hopefully it will arrive as a welcome lump sum0

What date does the decision letter state that the award starts from? Had you already had your health conditions/difficulties for three months before you claimed?Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.1

The only thing that would prevent any money owed from the date you first applied, would be if you didn't have the conditions for at least 3 months.

In my application my newest condition was six months old. Everything else was between 3 -10 yearspoppy12345 said:The only thing that would prevent any money owed from the date you first applied, would be if you didn't have the conditions for at least 3 months.0 -
I went to my Doctor in January but had been suffering for about three months before. The Dr sent me for X-rays which showed Arthritis and shoulder impingement.0

It's not how long you have had the condition,
It goes from day of diagnosismake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.1 -
Thanks- does that mean that because my latest diagnosis was January I won’t get it even though the other three conditions are years old. I wondered why there was no mention of the backdated payment but that would make sense0

I suggest ringing PIP and asking them to explain why your award has not been set to start from the date you applied.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.1
