Barclaycard Android App CHAT missing

I needed to contact Barclaycard support to discuss some problems with blocked payments. Everywhere on their web site they tell you to download the Barclay Card App, go to Contact Us, then select Chat. I downloaded the App yesterday but it does not have "Contact Us" or Chat options, only Help? (at bottom of screen). Clicked on Help? but the only options shown are FAQs and Direct Call. I called Barclaycard telephone support but they could not fix it. Any ideas? Note that going to the Barclaycard website does not help either because under Chat it just says:

We're sorry, you can't use Chat at the moment.

Are you using Edge or Chrome?  I believe that can make a difference.

First though I suggest you go into your browser history and delete all the cookies.  And then reboot.  This made things possible for me trying to get into my Barclays accounts so it may work for chat too.  I know that when I was having problems I talked to about 6 different people over a couple of months before someone mentioned Chrome and deleting the cookies.

Alternatively it may mean that chat is so busy they're blocking new conversations starting until there's enough staff available.  You might get further trying facebook or twitter.

  • Please note that the main problem is with Chat not being available on the Barclaycard App running on Android, so not Edge or Chrome.

Sorry missed the bit about the app.  Potentially the same thing may apply though - clear the browsing history and reboot.  If that fails try FB or twitter to get a message to them rather than waiting on the phone.

Just checked my Barclaycard app on my Android phone and a Chat button is available at the bottom of the Help screen, to the left of a Direct Call button.

Top of that page is "Using the app" text above buttons for FAQs  and  Take a tour .

My version is 2.20.0, 2200  - Found via More > Settings > (Scroll to bottom) App details

  • Thanks for the replies. I cleared web history in Chrome (although I don't think the BArclaycard App is linked to Chrome directly).

I checked the App version...2.20.0, 2200 same as wiseonesomeofthetime

My Help screen has this display:

    Help

Report a Lost or Stolen Card

       Accessible Services
We're committed to providing services that are accessible to everyone

      Button: FAQs     Button: Direct Call

    B
ottom of screen, main App menu
    Accounts, Statements, Pay, Help, More

I have been through all options...no CHAT button, and the Help Screen does not scroll, so nothing hidden.

I am using Samsung Galaxy 8 with Android. Android Version 9 (quite an old version of android, so maybe that is the
    problem?)

  • Update: I searched to see which Android versions are supported and found this:

Which mobile operating systems can I use the Barclaycard app on?

The Barclaycard app is available on iPhones running iOS 11 or later or Android 5 and above.

To find out which mobile operating system your smartphone is running, please follow the instructions below:

    • iPhone: Select settings > ‘General' >  Software Update’
    • Android: Select ‘Settings About Phone Software’ information

This may differ slightly from phone to phone depending on the version you’re running.

For older devices that are not eligible to upgrade to iPhone iOS 11 or Android 5, our app will not work.

So Android 9 should be fine

Not much help to you but mine is the same as @wiseonesomeofthetime

Even though version shows the same number, have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app?

As, at the time, you had only recently installed the app it might be that the chat facility only becomes available after a few days to give time for a letter confirming the installation of the app to be received by the account holder. Although, if it's any consolation, I've never found Barclays chat agents to be of any help. I've always had to telephone and hope I get through to someone in the UK.
  • clevejonthefirst Hello I've just downloaded the app & got the same problem - missing chat icon. Did this resolved for you? Thank you

Just wanted to check you're sure it's missing. It isn't called Chat, it is 'Send us a message' in the Contact us section of the Help tab.
