Ryanair Cabin crew nonsense.

In principle I would agree with you were it not for the fact that people seem to have developed this idea that their bag/trolley case should go in the first overhead with space even if they are sitting 30 rows back. Nothing worse than having to fight your way back to row 50 to get your bag because someone in row 40 decided to put theirs in row 10 as they walked past.CKhalvashi said:To be honest (and I do this with any airline whether it's Ryanair, Wizz, LOT, Lufthansa etc, I prefer to board almost last anyway, but waiting near the gate, even with Priority.
I can't think of anything worse than the 'Luton treatment' of waiting in a corridor for half an hour while the plane is offloaded and checked. Not sure what the obsession with being gatelice is, the plane isn't going to go any faster.
Only occasionally do you get the last laugh when they put stairs/airbridge at both ends of the plane and suddenly they are facing a worse torrent of people heading towards them to disembark when their bag is at the opposite end.
The one possible exception to this is all is in some enhanced classes when you turn left and where drinks/nibbles are served before the flight... certainly made sure I maximised my allocation!1 -
Not sure what routes you're using to have seen this, but my experience is largely with what would traditionally be VFR routes and I haven't seen this happen. Holiday/leisure routes I can imagine being somewhat different.Sandtree said:

I've not seen it either on holiday/leisure routes.
People seem to want (quite understandably imho) to want their hand luggage as close to their seats as possible.2 -
Guess I am constantly unlucky then... we are talking their mini suitcase, they keep their small hand bag with them. My assumption had always been that its their holiday clothes etc that they dont need with them on the flight and they'd rather know its go into an overhead locker than take it to their seat, see they're all full and then have to have it put in the hold thus defeating the purpose of cramming everything into one small suitcase.Pollycat said:Not sure what routes you're using to have seen this, but my experience is largely with what would traditionally be VFR routes and I haven't seen this happen. People seem to want (quite understandably imho) to want their hand luggage as close to their seats as possible. What airline's this? I've never known anything like this either. The whole point of Ryanair's priority/2 bags system is they know exactly how many trolley bags they're going to be, they restrict the number of priority bookings to the overhead locker space, so they should never have this problem, and if they do it's because people have put their small bag in the overhead lockers and they'll remove them and tell people to put them under seat.Other airlines (like EasyJet IIRC) count the trolley bags at the gate and after a certain point they'll say peoples' trolley bags have to go in the hold. This is at the gate, before boarding.I've never been on any flight where peoples' trolley bags are removed and put in the hold after boarding the aircraft. That would make boarding very inefficient. What airline have you seen this on?

I used to see this quite often on easyJet, short busy flights mostly STN/AMS, but it's been a few years so they may have resolved the situation. Passengers with bags that couldn't fit anywhere had them tagged at the front of the cabin and a handler took them down to put in the hold, so yes, a bit of a holdup but nothing serious.

Mainly BA, VS and easyJet but also on some other flag carriers like AirMalta, Aeromexico etczagfles said:Sandtree said:

In many cases it doesn't end up with trolley bags being taken off just they ended up dotted around the aircraft because the people have put them in the first space they've found so the people in those seats that come in after cannot fit them and so end up having to go further down the plane to the first place they can find a space and so this perpetuates the problem for those later boarders.1 -
A few years ago now but I had this on Easyjet flying from STN to I think Spain... they took my trolley bag off and packed it in the hold. Wasn't a big deal till I came off the other end and realised I had left my passport in the trolley bag and had to try to talk my way past passport control with my driving license and a smile!zagfles said:Sandtree said:
