Its just depressing!! :(
Im just about giving up! I have that sinking feeling that there is quite literally nothing I can do to reduce my pain when it comes to changing tariffs because what ever I chose or where ever I go Im going to be bent over an apple cart.
I'm currently on a variable rate with E.On (gas 7.34 and electricity 29.24) and the cheapest new rate Ive found is still with E.On at gas 11.43p and electricity 46.13p! Has anyone found a supplier with cheaper rates than E.On Next Online v16 fixed for 12 months?!? Even this feels like a bit of a death sentence as its only staving off even higher rises until July next year :'(

There are no cheap rates at the moment unfortunately unless you have a EV and it appears that even they they may not be accepting new customers at the moment.mailmannz said:Im just about giving up! That rate appears to be above both the Oct 22 and Apr 23 price rise estimates, so it is likely to accelerate paying higher prices, not reduce them. Apart from those lucky people who are already on a fix (or EV owners), it appears that the SVR will be the cheapest rate until at least Oct 23 and possibly much longer.mailmannz said:I'm currently on a variable rate with E.On (gas 7.34 and electricity 29.24) and the cheapest new rate Ive found is still with E.On at gas 11.43p and electricity 46.13p! Have a look at
https://www.greenenergyuk.com/
Until told otherwise the best rates for switch and fix and no exit fees.
Night be worthwhile unless your Apple cart has an electric motor😅0 -
I know that you like the fixed tariff from Green Energy UK, but you should make the people also aware that there is a potential big problem with taking this fixed tariff..
Green Energy is not regulated by cap, so after the fix runs out people are on a SVT that is potentially more expensive than the cap. If the current climate continues with suppliers not taking on new customers, they might be stuck paying more in the long run.
Not saying that this will be the case, and everybody needs to make his own decision, but at least people should be aware of this potential issue.7 -
Yes - we definitely factored this into our calculations and decision making. Hopefully the fact that theoretically at least prices *should* be dropping as the fix nears its end will mean there is a little more flexibility - and with there being no exit fees, if anything that looks suitable comes up to shift to in the meantime, a further switch won't be an issue of course.pochase said:I know that you like the fixed tariff from Green Energy UK, but you should make the people also aware that there is a potential big problem with taking this fixed tariff..

@pochase It's a fixed rate with no exit fees best on the market.
I will keep promoting it and saving people hundreds of pounds a year.

why isn't Green Energy included in the cap?

The Sparkling fixed deal most people can save the most money on is fixed anyway so not covered by the cap. No exit fees and they can move away anytime they like if a better deal comes up anywhere.0 -
