Dreamworld Travel - No refund when they downgraded my flights

I booked London to Bangkok flights in premium economy, i received the email confirmation all 4 flights were premium economy. The next day I logged in to the cathay pacific website to book seats. Only 1 was now premium economy. I got in touch with dreamworld. very slow response as always. said it was correct, ignoring they had already confirmed the flights. I asked for a refund as they wouldn't provide the premium economy flights i paid for. They said ok. This was March 2021, they have been telling me I will be refunded soon. Every month they say i will be refunded but never comes. too late to claim back with my card. Takes them weeks to respond to messages and can't get through on the phone. Absolute nightmare. Anyone had any luck? Who can I complain to to get my money back?

    How did you pay?
    was it over £100?

    i don’t think it’s too late for a section 75 claim
  • Hi Lisyloo, Thanks. £890. With my bank account debit card. Typical they didn't accept Amex. Bank said was too long for them to do anything.

This is correct, you're outside the 120 day limit for a Chargeback.

If you'd paid on a credit card (which doesn't have to be Amex), you would have a claim against the card company for 6 years, as against the travel agency.

You will need to take this up with Dreamworld and if necessary proceed with small claims action.

ok - yes there's a difference between debit and credit card.

I would get yourself another credit card in addition to AMEX.

It will be a letter before action and small claims then.
Do you have a legal policy on your household insurance or standalone?
  • Thanks I have a Mastercard too, doesn't help now though. I chase up dreamworld every month. They apologise, say its with accounts and thanks for your patience. 18 months later and no closer to getting my money. If they hadnt kept telling me the refund would be with me soon I would have spoken to my bank earlier but they keep lying
