THIS IS ALL ASSUMING THE OCTOBER CAP LEAVES THE SC AS IS, AND ALL INCREASES ARE ADDED TO THE COST OF THE PU?
Do you have any particular reason for making that assumption?
The vast majority of the cost increase on the Standing Charge related to SoLR costs, those are almost all now factored in and the only providers to go bust in the interim have been small, so the costs would be very low. There will be an inflation based rise in the Standing Charge but that is only going to be a few pence at most. The elephant in the room though is Bulb, as it is in Special Administration is is not currently counted under the SoLR process, nor is the cost included in the SC. If the government and OFGEM decide to include that cost within the SC then expect the SC to rise by 15-25p. Alternatively the government may choose to fund that cost from general taxation as it currently appears to be doing, with the total cost estimated to be in £3.5-5.8 billion if the government manage to dispose of Bulb by the end of the financial year, more if they are stuck with it well into next year.

OK many thanks, that makes sense. So if the price cap were to rise by 65%, then potentially the SC might increase a little and the PU by more than 65% (it would appear to be around 72-75% on my tariff if the SC were to remain unchanged).

Bulb will probably end up costing £1000 per person in the UK.

That is scary and those involved with setting up bulb....off to other ventures they go
