Cost of Living Payment

Is the cost of living payment paid with your benefit? I know that it is paid from the 14th and thought it would make sense if it got paid on your benefit day but I can’t see anything about it online.

I'm assuming you didn't read the link i posted yesterday.

The payment will be made separately from your benefit. It will appear in your bank, building society or credit union account, or on your Payment Exception Service voucher receipt, as ‘DWP Cost of Living’.

Hi you won't get the cost of living payment I am in the same situation nil award but receive housing payment to my local council and DWP confirmed I will not get it

This is the 3rd thread you've posted on. As advised on your other thread here. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6372601/cost-of-living-payment-and-nil-award#latest you will have spoken to someone from a call centre, not someone from DWP. They have very little knowledge.

Hopefully you are correct, would be good to see if anyone in this situation confirms they have received the payment by posting on here

It would make no sense for you not to qualify because your payment is only zero because your housing element is paid straight to your landlord. Therefore it's not really a nil award.

Someone just commented on a thread that also has a nil award because their rent is paid direct to their landlord. They received the CoL payment today. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/79340014#Comment_79340014

@poppy12345 is correct. Any UC award which includes any housing payment, regardless of whether this is paid to the claimant or direct to the landlord on their behalf, is inherently not a NIL award. A NIL award is one where NO payment of UC is due in the AP. Where deductions for direct payment to landlord, fines, arrears, advances have been paid, there cannot have been a NIL award. This is money that HAS been received and has been paid on the claimants behalf to the respective organisations.
