If wallofbeans was local, I have a tub of cement and bags of sand they could fill a (small) bucket with....

Nope. Got way too much to do here. More likely to rope them in to labouring on some of the jobs I've got lined up.

Shame... I thought there was an offering incoming. I had the kettle on and everything...

Haha. Of course, a selection of cakes!

But full disclosure, it will be a little more than that patch, I'm also getting wiring for an outside light dug into the same wall so I'll need to blend that in too.

I'm in south east London... and I can let you off the hook, I think the advice here will be enough for me to do it. And if not, I'll be back here asking what I'm doing wrong!

    Thanks again!

Way too far for me. Don't like crowds either.
If you are digging more lumps out, it may be easier to cut the whole lot out and put a smooth coat of render on.
Had some nasty horrible pebble dash on my house. Much of it came off with a scraper, and I then used a diamond cup wheel to take the remainder off. Slapped a bit of Tarmac One-Coat render on to hide the cracks and fill the gouges. Not perfect, but it looks a lot better than it did.

At last getting round to doing this... Looking for small bags of cement and sand but they don't seem to exist. Any suggestions of other options or of ready mixed that would work?

If you see any split bags the sheds or merchants will usually discount them.
