No ones asked  but which browser are you going to use.. Microsoft only protects its own.

Browser protection is only a small part of the job of AV but as you brought it up there are MS extensions for other browsers too.

I have tried a few AVs over the years and found various problems with them - slowing everything down - intrusive - Defender worls for me.

I'm not sure I understand. I use Firefox, Opera aand Chrome which Defender protects.
You know what uranium is, right? It's this thing called nuclear weapons. And other things. Like lots of things are done with uranium. Including some bad things.

Defender on it's own doesn't protect against clicking on dodgy phishing or malware URLs in browsers, I think MS Edge has this baked in. If you want this added protection then you can add the MS Defender extension to your browsers, eg, https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/microsoft-defender-browse/bkbeeeffjjeopflfhgeknacdieedcoml

Norton is free with BT if you don't want to use Microsoft's own.
Only 'free' if your time and sanity have no value! Ever tried uninstalling Norton?

My Kaspersky Internet Security is up for renewal too and whilst it's been good value the past 7-8 years or so, I think I'll pass on it for something else. I'm not sure which to opt for yet but Norton & McAfee are really expensive (both including VPN which I don't really need)

At the moment, I'm siding with Bitdefender, 3 devices, 1 year £20 - via a PC Gamer mag link. I've got a few days left to shop around :)

Yesterday, I wrote this <<Did you not read the posts above yours which all advocated Windows built in Defender?>>
Surprisingly, it's my opinion today as well!!
