From a reselling point of view, I doubt many people would notice the absence.

When I was selling a house some years ago, nobody mentioned that there were no doors - anywhere (I was waiting for them to arrive).
I think most people would. I know whenever I'm looking at houses the state of the central heating is something I look closely at.

The estate agent will probably list the rooms that have radiators in them... The majority of listings I look at do.

Depends where you live. Certainly need it in the North East of Scotland !

I'm in North East Scotland too. My heater in the bedroom is very rarely used, only if the temp is way below freezing. Cold room and warm bed is healthiest.

Reducing? Yeah no problem. But don’t get rid entirely.

You hardly need any heating in a well insulated bedroom. Our loft conversion has 400mm rads, they are perfect.

Gosh that’s such a small radiator. Good to know you only need a small one.

I keep it low but would not do without.
I turned the heating off one year to save for a ig trip and books and the oak handles got mildew.
8hrs of moisture from breathing at night could have some effect.
Also if you aren't well you want to be warm.
And if buying and having to reinstall would affect the sale. At least a small one you're only looking for half the job.

I wouldn't even consider buying a house that didn't have radiators in the bedroom.  I like a cold bedroom, but don't want the house to get below 15C overnight.  The heating upstairs probably only kicks in on a couple of times a year - and we have the bedroom window (on the latch) open 24/7.

That an unusual view, considering properties are random packages of attributes and few of us can get these to tick all our boxes.
A lack of radiators is something that can be fixed at a relatively low cost, but most people would factor that into an offer.

If the OP wants to fully remove the rad, they can, and with no detriment to a future sale, unless it's to someone precious; it will be made clear that it was a personal choice, the pipework remains, and the rads are in the loft - it will take a plumber less than a day to reinstate.

(On that note, OP, as well as having them capped-off just below f/b level, have your plumber add quality full-bore isolating valves too, so the future plumber won't even have to drain the system to replace them.)
  • I wouldn't be without the rad in my bedroom .
However, I would not sleep with it on .)
