EasyJet vouchers

Options
Hi, I maybe a bit late to the party but I am at my wits end. Any advice would be much appreciated.
Brief summary......
  • 2020 flights cancelled for obvious reasons, vouchers accepted as I wanted to stay loyal and re-book the following year
  • 2021 re-booked flights also cancelled, vouchers accepted/extended
  • 2022 vouchers extended from 2021 used to rebook however could only use one voucher per booking, voucher were not issued as a whole voucher, got a lump sum then a few £20 so couldn't use all the vouchers for one booking, had to add more money to cover the booking and flight price had gone up.
  • cont. 2022 flights got cancelled due to disruption, vouchers accepted again as still want to go on holiday
  • cont. 2022, flight for October which was re-booked with vouchers has now been changed and is not acceptable to fit in with our plans therefore I have cancelled the flights, accepted vouchers again.
After being messed about so much and researching other airlines and what they can do for me, I now just want my money back.

Called EasyJet today, actually spoke to someone, however apparently there is no way their system can do as I ask, they were not willing to let me speak to anyone else, would not give me their name or tell me how to raise a complaint, basically I was just told as I had accepted the vouchers I now can't have cash back, absolute rubbish.

I don't want to cause trouble or get into an argument I just want my money back.

Thanks,
Karen

Unfortunately you were given the right information - once you accept a voucher, they're under no obligation to buy it back from you, so if you keep accepting vouchers rather than exercising your refund rights (for any of the changes that gave rise to any) then you no longer have any cash alternative, however many times you ask, as you've waived your entitlement to one.

And just to clarify that I would consider the notification that should have been given before accepting the first voucher to be adequate to not allow a cash refund in the event of cancellation later on under both EC261 and UK261 (which has exactly the same wording, just the compensation amounts are in pounds).

Although moot here anyway, I disagree that accepting a voucher precludes a cash refund in the event of a later airline cancellation, as discussed a while ago on another thread and more recently on this one:

OP's references to accepting vouchers multiple times after cancellations would seem to imply that there was an alternative offered and I'm not sure what that would be if not a refund - rerouting should be available but a voucher wouldn't be any more 'loyal' than that....

I think once you've accepted vouchers then that's the end of the matter - EJ have no obligation to exchange them for cash.

Are EJ vouchers transferrable or tied to a passenger? If the former you might be able to pass them or sell them on?

I believe (again from a thread here) we ascertained they were tied to a single passenger.

OP is quite lucky that it's not for the £7k (IIRC) that this particular voucher was.
