Self employed & sick pay

Hi, my husband is self employed and is in receipt of state pension, still working full time. He has recently had knee surgery and is unable to work for the next couple of months. Is he entitled to any sort of sick pay/benefit during this time? He has no other income/private pension. Many thanks

He cannot claim anything by himself - any claim will be a means-tested joint claim with yourself as a couple.

How old are you? If you are under state pension age, then you may be able to claim Universal Credit as a couple but you would both have to make a claim.

Alternatively, if you are both over state pension age, then it's pension credit.
