Cancelled flights and travel insurance

We had our summer holiday flights booked with easyJet to and from Manchester on 3rd July and 23rd July.
We booked parking for the 3 weeks and planned to drive down.
A few weeks ago (just over 2 weeks before the flight) we got told the outward bound flight had been cancelled and we could swap the flight for another one.
We decided to fly from Glasgow (a bit closer to us) so we booked a train from Manchester Airport back to Glasgow for our return.
Easyjet have since cancelled the return flight so we have chosen to return to Edinburgh airport.
Now we have parking and a return train ticket we can't use, and easyJet won't do anything else as they swapped the flights and it was cancelled over 2 weeks in advance.
Our travel insurance (with Nationwide FlexPlus bank account) are saying we aren't covered as it was cancelled in advance and we are reliant on easyJet. If it was cancelled less than 2 weeks in advance they would cover us.
Any ideas if this is correct?
I've made a complaint to the travel insurance so they will look at it properly but haven't heard anything.

Sadly, this is probably correct (although you would need to read all the words of your insurance policy in order to know for sure).

When Easyjet cancelled you could have asked them to re-route you on another flight from/ to Manchester . ( even if this was with another airline ) It was their responsibility to do this if you chose re- routing rather than refund .pramsay13 said:We had our summer holiday flights booked with easyJet to and from Manchester on 3rd July and 23rd July.

As you have already accepted a flight from a different airport , it’s unlikely Easyjet will pay for your parking as it was your decision to fly from another airport.0 -
I would agree.Voyager2002 said:Sadly, this is probably correct (although you would need to read all the words of your insurance policy in order to know for sure).
With so much travel uncertainty post-covid it often makes sense to leave options open and to only book flexible or changeable reservations for hotels, parking etc. There is always a risk booking a non-refundable rate option.0
