Letter meant for someone else

I received a pack of documents from a solicitor on Saturday addressed to me threatening court action over an unpaid parking fine. The cover letter was addressed to me, but the pack of documents with that was addressed to a man of the same name in a different part of the UK. What's the appropriate course of action from here?

Does this relate to any vehicle you may have been involved with? From the Plain Language Commission:

The PPC/Legal have messed up with their data control. If they've confused them with you ... what have they been doing with your data.

I don't own any vehicle in the UK and yes there is a data issue too.0

Are you the registered keeper of any vehicles in the UK?
You could contact the other person and tell them what has happened. It is their data that has been misused, not yours, so they might want to make complaints to several bodies that their data has been misused.
Is the information about a fine, or about a parking charge notice from an unregulated private parking company?
Are you concerned that your personal data has been misused?

I had similar with a private pension. Along with a letter to me, came all the details for someone else, his pension pot, his monthly payments etc.
I spent time googling this person and found his details online. We chatted and with his permission I sent him copies.
It went to the ICO and the company offered and paid us compensation
The parking industry is at the best of times very mucky and very incompetent so you and the other party must make a formal complaint to the ICO.
WHAT ARE THEY DOING WITH YOUR OWN DATA ?

Is there any connection to your recent VCS/LJLA case? Misfiling of your data? Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

The only connection might be I wrote to John Davies at to complain about VCS, but got no reply. I don't know why my name and address would therefore show up on their system. Maybe they filed my letter.1

It happens, we are only human.
Years ago my solicitor send me the details of two other people when I was wrongly accused of causing an accident, I was 18 at the time. I decided not to use him and paid the 20 quid I think and my cousin said I was silly to pay him. I
did not use the solicitor I defended myself against the police and the other driver and their so-called 'witnesses aka friends.
My witness that was in my car was not called up to give evidence and to add insult to injury the defendant's solicitor called me a "liar." I kept my calm and control and just stuck to the truth and asked to questions each to the three people in the police officer. I won. Just shows you don't need solicitors for basic matters where you are being honest.
A few months ago we had a bag full of someone else's medicines sent to us - the bag had our details on it but the medicines all of them belonged to someone else - we rang and told them they collected - no dram
Years ago when I applied for a, a council sent me someone's job offer/contract all details etc - no drama, I returned to sender - no drama
A few weeks ago the local council sent me some details re their LL's licence - I returned it to sender - no drama.

I wrote to Davies in his capacity at the IPC, not his solicitor's firm. So there may be a breach there alright.1
