Basic question on group claim for VW Dieselgate

I suspect you've misunderstood my response to that post ... I'm actually agreeing with what has been posted, and that such claims should (probably) be statute barred. (The VW claim was filed before Sept 2021 so was in time ... any new claim may well be time-barred).Jenni x1

I totally avoid driving for fripperies like local runs and only use it for long haul trips to minimise the environmental impact of my transportation - so most weeks it does one trip if that. TBH I just feel that VW have been exceptionally cynical and I guess they were unlucky because they happened to get caught. I was actually going to buy a Mazda as a possible alternative but it seems that a lot of car manufacturers were up to this trickery so who knows. What I do know is likely this will be last car and I will just rent use / zip car when my Superb is no longer viable
Edit:- I guess its highlighted to me my naivety in these matters as I just assumed after I had the vehicle recalled & modified that at some point in the future I would be contacted wrt to any compensation.1 -

You've had no problems, you've been pleased with the car - what are you claiming compensation for? What losses have you suffered? Can you objectively quantify how much money this has cost you?1 -

seriously though the model I bought was 1.4 greenline back in 2014 and went for this model because to get more out of my journeys fuel wise & to do so with less pollution. This was pre my knowledge about NOX and there was a time when diesels were not frowned upon. Although if we are gonna use the word "irk" then branding of car "greenline" as a PR tactic to induce purchase whilst at the same time fiddling emission tests does rankle some.0

you seem to have a sense of humour failure ... maybe get out in the sunshine and lighten up some?

I've read about the average payout. Anyone here with a newer, more expensive VW, did you get a lot more than the "average" and anyone that had a cheaper VW did you get less?0

Since it is "hush money" not "com-pen-say-shun" you'd expect every claimant to get the same.I wonder if it is creative accounting- if someone had 17 cars, they made 17 unique claims and get 17x the payout if the payout is per claim, if you then average the payout per unique person it will be larger than the actual figure.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
