Landscaper fly-tipped my garden waste in the back lane.

Sadly the only way that I think that I could get him is in a sting operation. However I don't have the resources to pull something like that off effectively. It just infuriates me that I can't do anything.Mortgage free by 33 - (21/07/22 - 32 years and a bit...)
Most DIY problems can be solved by a combination of spanner, pliers, screwdriver, Allan key and a blade. (Hold it, twist it, cut it!) Very occasionally industrial language, a hammer and an adhesive may need to be added to the mix. (Curse it, hit it, patch it!)0 -
When I had a similar situation trading standards did get the address for me from the phone number (it was a while ago but I think landline not mobile), so there may be an avenue there.CJRyder said:Sadly the only way that I think that I could get him is in a sting operation. however the address was at a caravan park and he’d said he’d just move if I sued.
so there might be an avenue to find the address.0 -

One moral of the story is don't, ever, employ anyone who doesn't have what looks like a permanent address. Not on "a caravan park".1

Indeed. However they don’t advertise the fact so this needs proactive checking and these things are all very good in hindsight, but it’s a good point.Ath_Wat said:One moral of the story is don't, ever, employ anyone who doesn't have what looks like a permanent address. Not on "a caravan park".
the same is true of anyone who says they are insured (like a cleaner).
it’s useless to you the consumer as they need to claim on it. It’s only useful to you if you successfully sue them, but you have no direct right to claim on it.0 -
Anyone you pay to move waste (be that garden waste, rubbish or just stuff you no longer want but can't/won't take to the tip yourself) must have a waste carriers licence. You can check that here https://environment.data.gov.uk/public-register/view/search-waste-carriers-brokers-regime?regime=upper-tier
If they don't have a licence, you are legally liable if your waste is fly-tipped not the cowboy/scum/slimeball that dumped it - so don't just go for the cheapest man with van you can find unless they can provide proof they are licenced.4 -
check the credentials of a waste removal outfit and if you don't and your rubbish is found illegally dumped, you get fined.
I've heard about a couple of people fined when their rubbish was found in country lanes.
We used a waste service and all of their credentials were on the website which I confirmed.0 -
You can often tell that someone only has an address on a caravan park. I won't say how, in case people think I am being offensive.lisyloo said:
