Looking at your credit files is about far more than checking the largely meaningless credit score. Go on, give yourself a nudge and have a look at all three. It is your right to know what data is recorded about you, and which can be shared with a number of companies, not only banks. Knowledge is power, as they say.
It is frightening to think how much data is collected and then used to bombard us with spam, malware and worse.

I try to limit how many of these sites I register with. Who knows what Experian, Credit Karma, Google, Facebook, Microsoft and even MSE does with the data you provide on registration?
I understand your concerns, however Experian, Equifax and TransUnion collect your information whether or not you register with them.

I had the exact same experience with Santander when trying to transfer a large sum to a recently set up Virgin M account, I was never able to complete the transfer and to add insult to injury My account was also blocked when I tried to transfer the sum back into Marcus, an account that has been working for some time.

It took a week to get it sorted, the block lifted and the link to Marcus re-established.

I have raised a formal complaint by letter (couldn't get through on the phone; no one answering!).

The complaint has been registered but I don't hold much hope for any meaningful response.

I think it's probably not just Santander, all you can do these days is talk to undertrained and uninterested staff.

What evidence do you have that having logins to your CRA files result in spam, malware and worse?

They all have T&Cs, which amongst other stuff describe what they do with your data, whether you have a login or not. If you disagree / object, you csn take your complaint to the ICO.

You can very easily prevent this from happening.

You have read all the T&Cs.

There are many many examples of agencies using and selling data, examples where data has been exposed by carelessness and others where data has been stolen.

However, I don't really want to enter into another pointless debate.
