Three blocking 65075 text to switch

Im leaving three, so tried to text 65075, which as we all know is FREE.  it comes back as I cant because its a "premuim rate SMS".  Now I never change settings on my phone, ever.  65075 worked 12 month ago because I used it, they then offered to keepo my existing deal so I stayed.
Now it seems to be blocked and nothing would fix it, so I when to thier chat, he was totally confused until I said Im trying 65075, then he knew exactly what to do, put me through to retentions.  Its a deliberate tactic to allow them, to engage before you leave.  They dont want you to just use text to switch.  Its underhand and surely breaks ofcom rules !
Got my PAC now and glad to be leaving but it took a lot of me saying NO and them stalling.

Doubtful as that's an Ofcom requirement.
It is possible to set (on a network level) limits for premium rate calls or texts and short code text numbers (like those you see on BGT) may get caught as a premium text by accident.

I used 65075 a couple of months back with Three and it worked without issue.

As Neil said, perhaps you have a £0 spend cap on your account? Their system may pick up all short code SMS numbers as premium rate, even though in this case it is free?

I've just sent the PAC message to 65075 from a 3 PAYG sim with zero credit on and it worked as expected.

About six weeks ago, I sent to 65075 with a £0 spending cap on my previous Three contract, and it worked fine. Got my PAC a couple of mins later. A few hours later, Three sent a text begging me to stay with an improved deal compared to what they were going to give me before sending for the PAC request, so I stayed with them. So I'm not sure that the spending cap would interfere with sending to 65075.

The OP's situation is odd, and if it's true that Three are blocking 65075, then that's against OFCOM rules.

You're on the right lines, but it's nothing to do with Three.

I suspect the OP has an Android handset - if so this is all very easy to explain:

Android default is to consider short code numbers to be premium and not included in any allowances. As such, if you try messaging one, Android will ask you to grant the messaging app permission to send the message to the desired number before doing so (intention being to inform you of/stop you getting charged if messaging a chargeable number). With 65075 being free though granting permission to message it won't be an issue because, well, the number is free to text.

Also - on newer versions of Android, if permissions aren't used for a while (think it's 6 months or thereabouts?), Android will have a tidy up and remove them automatically, meaning you may need to regrant permission for something you've given permission for before.
