Opening a Chase account

I’ve just tried to open a Chase Savings Account, after an hour I was turned down, told I had failed a credit check, as you have to open a Current Account before you can open a Savings Account, as the Savings Account is only open to Chase customers. Has anybody else had these problems with Chase ? According to its own site it doesn’t require a credit check just an I.D. Check. I should have passed any check anyway and have now requested  my data to be released, thanks

  • Chase do not do a hard search credit check. Just a soft search ID check. So not quite sure what they mean by "you have failed a credit check" when it is only meant to confirm your identity!

Did you try the uk version, as both uk and USA are in the App Store.

Try open the current account first and then the savings account.

As mentioned above, you need to download the Chase UK app, not Chase Mobile, which is the American bank app.
  • Certainly sounds like a case of wrong app used.

Chase do not credit check in the UK and you have to open the current account first which just requires ID documents to be uploaded.

Getting any sort of rejection in such a short time is virtually unheard of here, applications are currently going to the "waiting room" for a couple of weeks.

And be aware that if the Chase UK app is not showing in your app store, this is usually because your device is not compatible

The link to the correct app can be on the Chase website

I forgot that bit about compatibility, well said !

As well as OS requirements there are also device hardware/software issues, such as the need for 64 bit versions of Android.

Same thing happened to me! Details fine, ID check - you're good to go, selfie - yes! Log in to app to continue and... We're unable to open an account for you

Baffling, as apparently they do not credit check... Yet I have anti-money laundering search from JP Morgan on my Transunion cr.

The only thing I can think of is that I had DRO made against me Jan 2020, discharged Jan 2021. So maybe that did it?
And yes, I have the UK app.

AML checks are soft searches. Chase have always done these. They just don't do hard searches - yet. As soon as they will offer overdrafts, they will do hard searches, too.

Quite possibly. The DRO will stay on your credit files for 6 years.
