They are the property of the respective gas firms and represent a large investment in terms of the metal. Cutting them up is technically illegal and you only have to look at lpg firms who go after illegal filling of and cutting up of same.
After thinking about it I’ve bought a cheap oil rad and an Aldi electric fire (fan heater). I’ve asked around for quotes on aircon, but I would end up using it in the summer for cooling and end up blowing any savings. I’ll keep looking for a deal in a log stove; have an alternative option to electric is a good idea, I think the market is broken and rife with speculation. Wood on the other hand will always be a local fuel and more fairly priced
