I believe our 11yr old TV has Freeviee built in it. However soon after buying it, I bought into Freesat system and have a Humax Freesat Recorder. That meant a second remote control. I invested in a one-for-all control and put the other two out of reach.
We are getting frustrated with Freesat. It seems to have a mind of its own, by slipping out of the mode we're using etc so we have to turn power off and reboot. That's just one thing. We don't vary our viewing habits and stay within the five main stations. 1/2/3/4 & 5.
Woukd it be simply to disconnect Freesat and revert back to basic TV with free view?, if so, what about recording.?

You can disconnect or simply not use the Freesat box, but you won't be able to record anything.
If you're familiar with streaming services, you could go that route, via a Firestick or similar. Or even, treat yourself to a new TV?1 -
Which freesat PVR make and model?
Google for common faults that may be easily fixed?
Freeview PVRs are cheaper than the only freesat one currently made - but you'll need a good working UHF TV aerial - the existing TV if connected to the aerial should determine if it works well or not?
TV make and model? Some higher end ones had twin uhf tuners and could record to a connected USB hard drive. Single tuner TV recoding is often possible but a very poor user experience.
