I have separate fridge and freezers, the fridge is a Lec F rated due to the new energy ratings from 2021 but when bought it was A++. The freezer also now rated F, was A++ in 2016, is a Blomberg it FF and holds just under 9 bags of frozen food. Being just me it seems like overkill having such a big freezer but I buy a lot of reduced price meats to freeze plus freeze individual pies I make myself.
Someone please tell me what money is

Do they really save you money over the lifetime of the appliance? If the price per unit stays the same as it is capped at today 28p?
    Yes, definitely.
One appliance might use 100kWh/yr, another might use 300kWh/yr. The difference is worth £56/yr at current prices. If prices continue at this level, and your applinace lasts 10+ years, that's a cost difference of more than £500.

Ok I'll go with my experience of a £400 ish FF lasting 5 years and I'll go with one that you guys say should last 10 years..

I've gone through curry's website and priced up the cost of a new FF, energy ratings claim, average annual energy consumption and plopped them all into a spreadsheet. I've worked out the cost of running it per year by using the current price cap unit rate. Gave it a 5 year life expectancy and a running cost over that life expectancy, with a total cost including purchase price.

I'm surprised to see very little difference, or I'm wrong.

Over your period of 5 years, you're potentially saving £120 by buying the lowest TCOE vs. the most expensive. That's roughly 1/3rd of the purchase price of the appliance.

You have a mix of different fridge to freezer ratios. For me, a bigger freezer was important so I only looked at 50/50 and only compared those.

Also liked the "holiday mode" on the model I chose. If the fridge is empty you can keep it at 15C rather than the normal 5C but the freezer runs as normal. As I'll use it for overflow there'll be many times I can use this option and hopefully save a bit on energy use.

According to what my spreadsheet says I'm now, especially once u factor in the cost if the appliance best case scenario is I'm £25 better off.
Edit: if you don't factor the appliance cost I'm around £100 better off.

I don't know how you've changed your spreadsheet since your screenshot but the cheapest in the photo is £678.99 and the most expensive is £806, a difference of £127.
    On a purchase price of £360 that's a little over 1/3rd.
Ah, that's about £25 a year - is that the number you're referring to?
