Is this a record - next fixed (supposedly best) tariff offered by Octopus increases my electricity from 21 to 43p per kw + 70% increase in standing and gas from 3p to 11p + similar standing increase , i.e 205% and 370% respectively?

That is a normal increase if you come from a fixed tariff and go to a new expensive fix, whereby Octopus is very much on the expensive side, there are much cheaper with other suppliers.

@alig1 your increases on unit rates are 105% and 270% !

Still not unusual when coming off an old fix to a new one.

I am moving from EDF's Online Refresh June 2022 to Total Service Fix May 24 and my rises are even more than yours.

    Elec SC from 18.9p to 49.65p = +162%  Elec Unit from 14.448p to 34.85p = +141%

    Gas SC from 18.9p to 27.22p = +44%  Gas Unit from 2.499p to 9.692 = +287%

Overall increase based on actual usage is 174%

    Not a record, no.
    The worst I know of would be Outfox The Market customers coming off eg. Fix'd 21 v15.0 (gas 3.362 / 24.54, elec 17.556 / 22.28) will find the only fixed deal on offer to be Fix'd X 22 v6.0 (gas 19.217 / 32.6, elec 61.784 / 42.3) which is an increase from £1083.45 to £4371.18 for Ofgem's average customer - a 303% increase.

No not a record but a very good post for those to read coming off a fixed rate and that dawning realisation of the current energy market.

Gas fix at 9.x p is very good value compared to the 11.8 - 13p currently forecast for the October cap which most companies seem to be using as their fix.
    I think....

Yes, but that already from 1st of March
  • There are probably some higher ones to come as well, those who fixed for 24mths back in Oct 2020 onwards are going to see some massive increases after the October cap.

Could be looking at Gas jumping from circa 2.5-3p upto 11p+, on the SVT so probably a bit more on a new fix.
Leccy the same, it's going to jump from circa 13-15p up to maybe 40p on SVT and again likely more on a new fix, plus you will be looking at least double on the SC compared.

... my father-in-law is on 3p for gas and 14p for electricity fixed until May next year, I'm sure he isn't the only one with a large increase in their future, but as a pensioner he is very pleased to be looking at another winter on those rates...
