Octopus Energy tried to treble my monthly payments

It's assured in the same way that the cap on Tracker tariffs is assured. You sign up with Octopus for 12 months on a particular version of the tariff and, to date, Octopus have shown no interest in meddling with the versions. If Octopus want to raise the cap, past evidence is that they will issue a new version and leave the current one alone.Chrysalis said:Is the 35P cap really assured for 12 months?

Ok I asked as there was no indicator at all its assured, 12 months isnt mentioned on their pages at all, it simply says you can leave whenever you want, I looked again and no mention its a 12m tariff. However I did try to switch just now and sadly. So another phone call on Monday I guess."We're sorry but something went wrong when processing your request. Please send us an email at hello@octopus.energy and a member of the team will investigate."

Actually I have been promoting the following recently by Octopus on many posts and I believe the following should now be added at the top of Martin Lewis table for best deals
1) the Agile tariff is now the best out there for fixing electricity only at 35p for 12 months but act quick
2) actively promoting Octopus customers to consider the Tracker tariff for gas due to the 11p cap rate fixed for 12 months (we all hope) with agile for electricity.
Balance is key not bias and if you view my replies you will see both positive and negatives for Octopus.
Is the 35P cap really assured for 12 months? If so this tariff seems godly right now when you also consider prices can dip off peak, which I know isnt assured but has been happening in recent months, and thats its way cheaper than the fixed deals Octopus are offering

Seems to be the case and that makes it the best fix around right now. Been trying to spread the word👍1 -
Looks good then, hopefully I get my swap over done on Monday.

Skimmed the thread and can't see any mention of the new tool Octopus have added to accounts which show the effect that changing your direct debit has on your balance over the year.4.29kWp Solar system, 45/55 South/West split in cloudy rainy Cumbria.0

I just clicked through switch to Agile via online dashboard just to test and it went through fine, could it be type of meter you have.Chrysalis said:Looks good then, hopefully I get my swap over done on Monday.0 -

We're receiving the half-hourly readings we need from your smart meter!
Now there's just one step left..But then when I tick all the boxes for agreeing to the t&c, and select the sign me up button I get the error.
I suspect its either because I am on a coop tariff (coop customer managed by octopus) or my current bill dispute with them, I will find out on Monday. Knowing my luck the tariff will be gone then.

Sadly for me that tool is based on their forecast of energy usage, and they are still predicting 10k unit usage for me over the next 12 months. Which is more than 4x my actual usage.

It has long been the case that the customers of a white-label supplier are treated separately from those with the licensed supplier. To get Octopus tariffs, a Coop customer would normally have to initiate a change of supplier to Octopus. The same applies, for example, for customers of Sainsbury's Energy supplied by British Gas.Chrysalis said:bristolleedsfan said:
