Sainsbury's Energy won't offer me Eon Next details despite being part of the same energy company

There is nothing new with these sorts of arrangements. Octopus Energy is the licensed supplier for Coop Energy; Ebico and M and S Energy (I may have missed some as Octopus has grown so quickly). They all trade as if they were separate entities. If I recall, Sainsbury’s Energy used to be a British Gas white label supplier.1

It used to be the case where you could use your Sainsbury's login on Eon Next's website then switch tariffs and the result would show up on your account within 24 hours. They might have fixed that 'glitch' now though.

Just tried it and yes I can login to eon next with my Sainsbury's login details and it displays all my account details as it does when I log in to Sainsbury's energy site.Astria said:It used to be the case where you could use your Sainsbury's login on Eon Next's website then switch tariffs and the result would show up on your account within 24 hours. A bit odd for what some people claim are two different companies ;-)0 -
When I read about Eon Next/ Eon Fixed Online v15 & Next Online v15 one year fixed, I emailed an Eon Next email address & received an email back from an Eon Next agent (the irony when there are supposed to be 2 different entities!).Alnat1 said:Curious as to what the unit rates and standing charges are for those Eon and Sainsburys fixed tariffs, mostly because both say V15 and I wondered if they were identical but with a different title. Have you got the details?
Nothing was said about Eon Next/ Eon Fixed Online v15 (£2,800 a year - no other details provided - I guess you need to be an Eon Next customer to get these) and I was just told about,
1 year Smooth Review v15 (£288 a month, £3,465.60 a year)
Electricty, Unit charge 39.59kWh Standing charge 37.92p/day
Gas, Unit charge 9.85kWh, Standing charge 27.22/day
As you can see, there is a difference of £656.60 between the 2 tariffs and hence why I am concerend about my positions and being stuck.

Those rates are better than the Eon Next V15
The quote you have for 1 year smooth review will be your actual usage hence why it is £656.60 higher. The general £2800 figure for the Eon Next v15 will be for the industry standard 12000 kWh gas and 2900kwh elec.

Agreed on what you detail + when you login via the online account or the Eon Next app on your smartphone, the branding is all Eon Next other than detailing that your tariff is Sainsburys Energy.gj373 said:
Yes and no. I can understand where the original poster is coming from. For example, i am a "Sainsbury's energy" customer. When I make a one off payment to "Sainsbury's energy" it actually shows on my bank account as a payment to "eon next". In fact, all correspondence makes it clear that "Sainsbury's Energy" is just a trading name of "eon next" so that would suggest we are actually "eon next" customers.Mstty said:It's a bit like phoning up Tesco mobile and getting them to match a deal with O2 as Tesco run on the same network.
However like Tesco they don't have to match and they can't get O2 to just give you the deal if they are closed to new customers.
If it's 2 different entities, then it makes sense to have a different online/mobile app experience as it's confusing and ultimately misselling.
I was advised by the MSE team, that they get hundereds of questions and obviosuly cannot respond to all of them - hence why I posted in the MSE forum. I have since asked the MSE team to review further as by the looks of things there are others in my position with other utility providers.
Ideal situation is that the parent company should make a concession and allow individuals like me to either get their tariffs as well or allow me to register for them as a new customer. Freezing me out and not allowing me to sign-up is way too penalising.0 -
@cxdesouza can you not get the Sainsbury's 1 year smooth review v15 that is potentially cheaper than the Eon next v15 fix?1

I called Eon Energy.Mstty said:cxdesouza said:

Sainsburys Smooth review V15 is no longer avaialble. They are now offering the v16 deal. Electricity 43.45kWh, Standing Charge 39.25/day Gas - 10.8kWh, Standing Charge 28.54/day.
This has obviosuly gone up from v15 smooth offering & will continue to do so re: energy crisis
Got some details on Eon Next v15. Electricity - 39.59kWh, Standing charge 37.9/day. Gas - 10.79kWh, Standing Charge 27.21/day
I have decided to go for Sainsbury's v16 deal.
Thanks!0
