Eon - Fixed Deal = Must Have Smart Meter?

They will not know everything about you from your smart meter and they have no impact on health. Any of the woo you see on YouTube/Facebook or read about elsewhere online has no scientific basis.Kapow_2 said:My biggest issue is privacy & health. I just refuse to let everyone know everything about me. Im not getting clarity on what i can refuse to provide them and also theres concerns about smart meters and that we dont really know how healthy they are at the moment.
I guess ill get them fitted however the privacy thing does bother me.
They submit no harmful EM signals, there are no negative health consequences from a smart meter, anything you see to the opposite is baseless conspiracy theoriesKapow_2 said:
Best to research what it emits and how much EMF etc radiation. I think ive had the info i need so ill be on my way and appreciate all comments.Alnat1 said:How can a meter affect your health?5 -
Nothing is baseless. Question everything. Check your T&C's to find out what is being monitored and collected about you and of you. More information about smart meter health can be found on the American Cancer Society, The WHO, EMF Academy.
Each their own.

I'm guessing you're already doomed if your water meter is poisoning your supply

Tap water is not used for drinking in this area. We are fortunate to have a natural spring close by for our needs. Its good to get out of our bubble and see how others live.Alnat1 said:I'm guessing you're already doomed if your water meter is poisoning your supply

I've fixed on the 18th with eon. They are now due out next month to fit the smart meter. Since it is in their terms on the fix, I doubt little choice. In the past, the eon chap said he couldn't do it. Due to the fact I'm in an upstairs massionate and signals won't reach or something as meter is outside building downstairs and so no point, in his words. (That was about 5 years ago thereabouts) On a few calls following that visit, I was told they still couldn't do it due to not having the correct meters made for my property to ensure signals reach. Last call was way before covid so I'm sure they've improved the technology since then. But I will find out next month.

On the privacy front note that you can opt to have smart meters only send readings once per month.

My EDF said smart meter too but I could opt out if I wanted to. I chose to opt out but now wondering if I should just get booked in and be done with it. Initially I refused as didn't want anyone in during Covid but assume it wouldn't take too long to fit them and would save me climbing under the stairs to get a readingfunny.money said:My recent EDF fix has the proviso of a smart meter. Up until now I've been resistant, for no particular reason. However, with the recent energy costs spiralling I've found myself wondering about what certain items are costing to run and now find myself quite looking forward to getting one!

Neither WHO nor American Cancer Society say smart meters are harmful to health.EMF Academy is a scam, promoting fake gadgets that claim to block so called harmful radiation. It would be good if you understood the difference between ionising and non-ionising radiation.3

Future price/tariff comparisons will move from the consumer inputting X kWhs/year, to a 12 month pull of historical data from a smart meter. A tool has already been developed to do this by BEIS.Carrera74 said:

To use this tool, the price comparison website will need approval every 12 months from the consumer, and it will need to be a Registered DCC Other User (or partner with an organisation that is already credited by the DCC). To extract data, secure software is needed known as an Adapter.
Clearly, if there is no smart meter then there is no data to pull.0
