Why am I being told who to use as courier?

That's correct. As I understand it, the different classes are about which get prioritised and therefore in theory, speed of delivery.JustAnotherSaver said:And that's on both 1st & 2nd class? As in £20 standard applies to both and £50 recorded applies to both? 1st class doesn't get you more does it?Thanks for the explanation anyway. For what I need I only need to pay standard, but since PayPal is offering return postage refunds, I may splash out a little.

Just a thought ... how much is the item worth and is it a popular item. It might make more financial sense to list it yourself.
Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time0 -
Would be an advantage to read the thread, this has been covered by the OP.Ms_Chocaholic said:Just a thought ... how much is the item worth and is it a popular item. It might make more financial sense to list it yourself.1 -
As has been covered but feel needs emphasised as its a personal bug bear.JustAnotherSaver said:EDIT - job sorted, PayPal ARE doing refunds on returns. I'll go with Royal Mail then, it's just easier.Though are you able to check if your PO has a printer for the QR code & print in store? I've never seen one in my local PO and I don't see it listed as a service for them. But every PO in the area doesn't have it listed as a service either & I'm sure at least one of them must do print in store considering I live in a city.
RM and PO are separate. Conflating them and the services they offer leads to constant confusion and questioning0 -
I would always take Tracked over Signed for and roll the dice on compensation.Spoonie_Turtle said:'Recorded' is officially Signed For which covers up to £50, gets you a signature on delivery, and online delivery confirmation with the tracking number. I don't even know if it's tracked internally to find it if it goes missing (calling it a tracking number rather sounds like it ought to, but the customer gets no update until it's delivered or at least delivery attempted - same as standard).
Standard gives you a reference number on the PoP which you can look up in the tracker for delivery confirmation. So yes you can use standard for what you want.
Far superior service with infinitely better tracking/features0 -
I thought Tracked services covered up to £100, whereas Signed For is £50. Well, for personal customers anyway, maybe it's different for business accounts.custardy said:

Signed for simply isnt worth it0 -
I think it depends on what the person posting actually needs.custardy said:

For me, standard parcels tend to reach their destinations fine without tracking, and sometimes I literally just need the higher compensation amount. Tracked services are more expensive and require going out of the way to drop off at a CSP, so unless I need either the higher cover or proper tracking for some reason, I don't tend to choose that.

You can get Tracked 24/48 collected for free. Tracked 48 is £4.35 with £100 comp. so exactly the same price as 2nd class signed for taken to a PO with only £50 comp. If you are in all day or have a safe place to leave your packages then it is a no brainer.1

I did not know that, thanks! There is 40p difference if buying SF online, but that's a bargain for collection.steviebabes said:You can get Tracked 24/48 collected for free.
