I would love to get my Ca Ching sound back but it suddenly stopped ages ago and try as I might it is still silent.soolin said:
I like my sold messages as they come with a ‘Ca Ching ‘ (I don’t know how I set that up) . Many a time I’ve been at an auction or in a charity shop and the person near me gets a ‘ca ching’ and I know they are selling on eBay 😀
This is on my Tablet (as I don't have a smart phone just an antique) and when I looked into it, apparently it was because my Tablet was old! - it was 2 yrs old at the time.
Anyone know how to get the sound back?0 -
on the app, three lines top lhs, then settings cog, then notifications
ensure selling notifications box(es) tickes then 'customise sounds'1 -
Just read some of the newer posts, I started the thread.
I was fearful of getting spam/bs messages. I did not and have not and used the login via code via mobile smartphone about 10 times since my OP here
I do not have an app for Ebay

Re ebay "Verify your contact info" I used to be able to do this sensibly by email but now I'm only getting by text to a mobile which is not practical:i.e. In a location where there's no mobile coverage but can access by wifi/email - It appears that some bright spark has not / does not consider such a scenario in their 'solutions' or 'testing' or 'iclusivity'.
So if you're somewhere without mobile coverage:
i) How do you "Verify your contact info" being as they've removed the "by email" option.
ii) How do you get the by email option back?iii) Is this more useless, frustrating, impractical, illconsidered 'progress'?And what about inclusion (a lack of discrimination) for those that do not have/want a mobile phone, let alone a 'smart one' for a 'app'?

For 2-factor authentication some organisations - definitely HMRC from memory - offer the choice of either a text message or an automated call to a landline (presumably with a request to key in a number on the keypad). There’s also an option, if you’ve previously opted for text messages to change this, if, for instance one’s mobile is out of action.ALogical1 said:Re ebay "Verify your contact info" I used to be able to do this sensibly by email but now I'm only getting by text to a mobile which is not practical:i.e. In a location where there's no mobile coverage but can access by wifi/email - It appears that some bright spark has not / does not consider such a scenario in their 'solutions' or 'testing' or 'iclusivity'.

I’m not at all techie but why can’t you log your phone into the wi fi and get the text on the phone that way?ALogical1 said:Re ebay "Verify your contact info" I used to be able to do this sensibly by email but now I'm only getting by text to a mobile which is not practical:i.e. In a location where there's no mobile coverage but can access by wifi/email - It appears that some bright spark has not / does not consider such a scenario in their 'solutions' or 'testing' or 'iclusivity'.

Not saying it's the case for this poster but if people don't have a smartphone then their messages will only come over 2G and not over wifi. And I believe on smartphone apps you have to have it enabled to get them over wifi, not everyone will have done that (I didn't until recently).soolin said:

I wonder if eBay accept landline numbers, SMS can be sent to a landline and it will ring and speak the message to you.0 -
Ah I wasn't sure. I know my son has virtually no mobile signal where he lives but we log into his wi fi when we are there and our phones work again.Spoonie_Turtle said:

I get loads of messages from the Ebay app on my phone - notifications of bids, offers, sales, etc etc and also annoyingly with the same sound the latest offers or deals - but I don't think I ever get any unsolicited texts. Mind you I haven't checked what number I have on Ebay for a while0
