Double charged at Adsa for petrol

My partner has just put £15 in our car at the self serve pumps in Asda. However his bank account shows a £30 charge.

Can anyone explain why this has happened and if it'll get refunded at all? Or do we need to contact someone to sort it out?

Thanks.

£30 actually charged, or is it a combination of a reserved amount and then a charge?  If so, the extra £15 will probably disappear overnight.

Check your online statement to see if there's any detail, make a note of the circumstances and contact Asda if the charge does look erroneous.

Just looking at the online banking, it's looks like a double charge. When he gets back I'll have a look at it in detail and check! Thanks for your reply!

Did he pay with a credit card?

If so, then the amount showing is almost certainly an authorisation rather than the payment.   That will probably come in overnight.

If one is marked as "pending" or similar its just an authorisation that hasn't tied up with the actual charge and it will naturally drop off in 7-10 days depending on your bank. The money hasn't actually been taken, its just ringfenced to try and reduce the risk of you overspending your limit.

If its definitely that two payments have cleared and left your bank then go back to the station to discuss in the first instance.
