20% decrease in gas in past year?
Last June (2021) I had my wooden framed 32 year old double glazed windows replaced with upvc double glazed windows in my 3 bedroom semi.
I have just compared my yearly usage 14843 kWh of gas from June 2020 to Jun 2021 and 11802 from June 2021 to Jun 2022, a reduction of 20.47 % from last year.
Has the past year been warmer so I have used less gas or is it because of my new windows?

Yes, we had a milder winter than average.3

3c difference, 2022 was 1c above average, 2021 was 2c below average, You would have to look up your location but im sure the new windows made a large part of that.

I've only been actively tracking my energy consumption since Jan 2021, but, this year, gas consumption is currently 1/3 less than 1 January to 21 May last year. The updated results will be in tomorrow!#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3660

I hardly had the hearing on at all in April or May this year. Used about 2,000 kwh of gas in those 2 months alone last year as it was a cold Spring and a late summer.0

The double glazing will have helped a bit but mainly down to mild winter I'd think.Barnsley, South Yorkshire

I used 15% less gas during the same period and I haven't changed anything so I suspect that your reduction is mainly due to the milder weather.

My usage dropped from 12089 kWh to 6973 kWh, milder winter, new external insulation and a year of consciously closing doors.Official SOS Club number 004 - Dry until (05.01.10)0

We are all electric and we've certainly used less of it this year compared to last, so it's probably a combination of warmer temperatures and the effect of your double glazing. Keep up the good work.
If you monitor your consumption, say weekly or even monthly you can see what happens when you change things - once a year doesn't really give you enough granularity to see what is going on.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
I am down on last year but up on 2019 so swings and roundabouts rather than a saving.

I'd say milder winter, my gas consumption halved from 9,000 units to 4,500. I was actively being tight with turning the heating on too, just too see how much I could cut back if I really need to.
So note to myself mild winter gas usage 4,500 kWh, currently can't cut back on that.0
